If you are struggling to lose weight, stressed out and depressed, you are not alone. A lot of people are facing the same issue.
I also had the same problem in past. I was trying to lose weight after giving birth to my beautiful little son. It was impossible to lose a single pound in a whole month. Even if I lost some pounds but gaining more and more. Then I came to know about Ketogenic diet, did research and implemented it in my life. I think, I have made one of the best decisions in my life. I was able to lose 20 lb in just 4 months by going Keto. I did not have to starve as the food portion was totally perfect. I was amazed by these results. I have learned a lot along this road. This diet not only help me to lose a significant amount of weight but also helped me to overcome other health issues for that I was taking medicine before. But now I was able to fix the root and is able to come off all my medicine. I am feeling great than ever.
Keto diet is low in carbs, high in fat and moderate protein which satisfies hunger. It is also full of nutrition and a balanced diet.
To start with ketogenic lifestyle I focused on three main things and that helped me to stay on track.
- First thing is Craving Challenges,
- Second thing is Eating habit and
- Third thing is Frequency of eating.

1. Craving Challenges:
The first week of going keto was very hard for me to stay on track. But I wanted to see the result. So, I sticked to Keto LifeStyle. My biggest struggle was to cut down the sugar and carbs to lose weight. I was very fond of rice, bread and sweets. I was unable to survive one single day without dessert or sugary food, rice or bread.
I was eating more rice than vegetables, fish and meat. But when I started researching on Keto, I found that we actually do not need this too much carbs in our body. Actually we are better with low carb. In a day 20g-30g net carb is enough, which we can get from vegetables very easily. And vegetables has way more value than eating a rice of bowel.
If you are like me, love to eat rice, noodles, spaghetti, etc. you can eat rice cauliflower, zucchini noodles or spaghetti squash noodles instead. These taste amazing and bring more value(nutrition) in our body.

My another craving was sweets. In the morning I use to take one cup of tea with milk and sugar. And also after meal I used to eat sweets/desserts and I used to eat sugary snacks in the middle as snacks. But I came to know through my research that excess sugar stays in our body and make us fat. Day after day we are eating a lot of sugar and carb (carb breaks down into sugar) and it is storing in our body as fat. So, I found Monk fruit as a substitute of sugar which taste same as sugar but it comes from a very special fruit. It does not spike sugar, it has zero calorie, zero glycemic, zero carb, 1:1 sugar replacement and keto approved. That worked for me to satisfy my sugar craving. I added this in my food when needed. I also found swerve and erythritol. I also used Stevia time to time. These also worked like sugar and they are different than normal sweetener. Research says sweetener is not recommended in Keto as it spikes the insulin level. But these Monk fruit, swerve, erythritol and stevia are keto approved and does not spike insulin. That’s why these sugar replacements are safe to use if you want to go low carb, low sugar and want to lose weight.

2. Eating Habit:
In every meal I planned to eat healthy and also stay full. I did not eat rice, noodles or bread, avoided sugar or sugary food. In breakfast most of the time I ate egg, avocado, turkey bacon/beef bacon and tea without sugar or with stevia. Sometimes depending on my hunger I added some vegetables in my breakfast like lettuce, cauliflower, zucchini, etc. During lunch I ate chicken or turkey with green vegetables. For dinner , I ate chicken or any fish like tilapia filet, salmon, haddock, basa fish with green vegetables.

3. Frequency of Eating
To lose weight in Keto LifeStyle I tried to stay in 3/2 meals a day. It was little hard to avoid carbs and sweets on my plate for the first two weeks but by 2nd week I started enjoying this LifeStyle and was able to see the result. So I decided to maintain it. I was not snacking so much in between my meals. If I had so much craving I ate nuts, cheese sticks, greek yogurt without sugar, a Keto bar , Keto cookies. From week 4 I did intermittent fasting. This helped me to lose more weight. If you want to know about intermittent fasting check my future post coming on Intermittent Fasting.
This lifeStyle is so doable and you will love it once your body gets fat adopted. Your body will become a fat burning machine with lots of energy and mental clarity. The result is amazing.
